Netflix üzerine gerçekleştirilen incelemeler çoğunlukla kullanımlar ve doyumlar ile kültürel incelemeler geleneğini takip etmektedir. Bu çalışmalar aktif izlerkitle vurgusuyla hareket etmekte olup izlerkitlenin kullanma motivasyonuna odaklanır. Ancak izlerkitlenin motivini yaratan kültürel medya içeriklerinin içinde biçimlendiği endüstriyel pratikleri ihmal etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı bir OTT TV platformu olarak Netflix'te üretilen içeriklerin ardındaki endüstriyel pratikleri açığa çıkarmak, yapım şirketlerinin kar elde etmek uğruna uyguladıkları stratejiler sonucunda tüketiciye sunulan içeriklerin aslında birbirinin aynısı olduğunu göstermektir. Bu çalışmada Netflix'in 2021 Ocak ayı tarihinde en çok izlenen dram dizileri olan Bridgerton, Cobra Kai ve The Queen's Gambit adlı diziler örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Diziler nitel içerik analizi yoluyla incelenmişler. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilere göre birbirinden oldukça farklıymış gibi gözüken yapımların aslında benzer özelliklerle öne çıktıkları ve bu özelliklerin herhangi bir özgünlüğe sahip olmadıklarıdır. Uyarlama, çapraz medya stratejileri, yıldız sistemi, yapım şirketinin başarısı bir dizinin başarısını belirleyen esas unsurlardır. Bunun yanı sıra senaryolarında bulunan dört ortak tema etrafında da inceleme yapılmıştır. Netflix'in bünyesinde kültür endüstrisinin doğrultusunda hareket eden içerikleri barındırdığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Studies on Netflix mostly follow the theory of uses and gratifications and cultural studies. These studies act with an active audience emphasis and focus on the motivation of the audience to use. However, it neglects the industrial practices in which the cultural media contents that create the motivation of the audience are shaped. The aim of this study is to reveal the industrial practices behind the content produced on Netflix as an OTT TV platform, and to show that the content offered to the consumer is actually the same as a result of the strategies implemented by the production companies for the sake of making profit. In this study, the most watched drama series of Netflix in January 2020, Bridgerton, Cobra Kai and The Queen's Gambit were chosen as samples. The series were analyzed through qualitative content analysis. According to the data obtained from the research, the productions that seem to be quite different from each other actually stand out with similar features and these features do not have any originality. Adaptation, cross-media strategies, star system, the success of the production company are the main factors that determine the success of a series. In addition, the four common themes in their scenarios were also examined. As a result, it has been concluded that Netflix contains content that moves in line with the culture industry.
