Cinsiyet her ne kadar toplumsal cinsiyet ile doğrudan ilişkili görülse de birbirinden farklı fakat birbirini tamamlayan kavramlardır. Cinsiyet tamamen biyolojik bir terimken, toplumsal cinsiyet içinde yaşanılan toplumun kültürüne, geleneklerine bağlı olarak inşa edilen bir kavramdır. Böylece bireyi yaşamı boyunca cinsiyetine bağlı olarak gerçekleştirmesi gereken davranışlar bütününe yönlendirmektedir. Kitle iletişim araçları ise bu yönlendirmede güçlü araçlardandır. Bireyin yaşamının bir parçası haline gelen medya, toplumsal cinsiyet rollerini aktarmada ve yeniden inşasında önemli bir paya sahiptir. Bu tez, yazılı basında yer alan anneler günü ve babalar günü haberlerinde; kadın ve erkeğin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine bağlı olarak nasıl sunulduklarını, hangi rollerde ön plana çıkarıldıklarını, belirlenen yıllar (2010, 2015, 2020) ve gazeteler (Hürriyet, Cumhuriyet, Yeni Akit) karşılaştırarak toplumsal cinsiyet algısında nasıl bir değişimin olduğunu ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda üç bölümden oluşan bu tezin birinci bölümünde toplumsal cinsiyet algısı ve kuramları, ikinci bölümde toplumsal cinsiyet ve medya, üçüncü bölümde anneler günü ve babalar günü haberleri toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri üzerinden değerlendirilmeye çalışılmış, gazeteler ve yıllar dikkate alınarak içerik analizi ile incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonunda, farklı ideolojilere sahip olan gazetelerde ve yıllarda anneler günü ve babalar günü haberleri karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz edildiğinde; haber içeriğinde ve rollerde farklılaşma olduğu görülmüştür. Toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri üzerinden değerlendirilen çalışma, kadın ve erkeğin; anne ve baba rolleri üzerinden sunulduğu tespit edilmiştir. Although gender is seen to be directly related to gender, they are different but complementary concepts. While gender is a purely biological term, gender is a concept that is constructed depending on the culture and traditions of the society in which one lives. Thus, it directs the individual to the whole of behaviors that she should perform throughout her life, depending on her gender. Mass media are powerful tools in this direction. The media, which has become a part of the individual's life, has an important role in conveying and reconstructing gender roles. This thesis, in the news of mother's day and father's day in the written press; It aims to reveal how women and men are presented depending on their gender roles, in which roles they are featured, and how there is a change in the perception of gender by comparing the determined years (2010, 2015, 2020) and newspapers (Hürriyet, Cumhuriyet, Yeni Akit). For this purpose, in the first part of this thesis, which consists of three parts, gender perception and theories, in the second part, gender and the media, in the third part, the news of mother's day and father's day were tried to be evaluated through gender roles, newspapers and years were examined by content analysis. At the end of the study, mother's day and father's day news in newspapers with different ideologies were analyzed comparatively; It has been determined that there is a differentiation in the news content and roles. It was seen that the study, which was evaluated by considering gender roles, was presented through the role of mother and father of women and men.
