Yakın tarihli alan yazında İstanbul'un bir dönüşüm veya kabuk değişikliği içerisinde olduğuna dair genel bir kabul bulunmaktadır. Fakat söz konusu süreç henüz detaylı görgül malzemelerle ve bütüncül olarak çözümlenmemiştir. Gerçekten de ifade edilen geçişe yönelik değerlendirmeler ya aşırı genelleştirici ya da tam tersine fazlasıyla seçici bir çerçevede ilerlemektedir. Bir diğer söylemle deneyimlenen şey ya kentsel bölge ortalamalarındaki yönelimler ya da kentin birkaç noktasında meydana gelen belli başlı yenilikler üzerinden yorumlanmaktadır. Bu çalışma ise en temelinde bahsedilen eksikliği tamamlamayı, değinilen oluşumu çeşitli yönleriyle ve kapsamlı bir biçimde incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bunu kentin tamamını yansıtan ve yüksek çözünürlüklü bir dizi veri ile gerçekleştirmektedir. Bahse konu bilgilerin her biri araştırmada ayrı bir teknikle işlenmekte ve yüksek temsil gücüne sahip çok sayıda görselleştirme yapılmaktadır. Buradan elde edilen bulgular ise İstanbul'un çok farklı ve yer yer de birbirini dışlayan/olumsuzlayan asimetrik koşullarca şekillendirildiğini, hatta bunların yere ve zamana göre bile değişik veçheler ürettiğini, dolayısıyla sanılanın ya da yazılanın aksine kentte çok boyutlu bir eğilimin sürdüğünü göstermektedir. Bunlar da İstanbul'un yamalı bohçayı anımsatan mekânsal görünümü her geçen gün daha da parçalı hale getirmektedir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Asimetriler, Büyük Dönüşüm, İstanbul.
There is a general agreement in the recent literature that Istanbul is in a transformation or shell change phase. However, the process in question has not yet been analyzed with detailed empirical materials and holistically as yet. In fact, the assessments that have been expressed about the transition are either over-generalizing or, on the contrary, too selective. In other words, what is experienced is interpreted as either as an average of a trend in the urban area or any of the major novelties that have been implemented in a few places in the city. On the other hand, this study aims to fill this basic gap and examine this formation in a comprehensive manner from various aspects. This is done with a series of high-resolution data that reflects the entire city. Each of the aforementioned data is processed with a separate technique in the study and a large number of highly representative visualizations are made. The obtained findings show that Istanbul is shaped by very different and sometimes mutually exclusive/negative asymmetrical conditions, and even these produce different aspects according to the time and place, which means that contrary to what is thought or written, a multidimensional trend continues in the city. This makes Istanbul's spatial patchwork appearance look more fragmented with each passing day. Keywords: Asymmetries, Great Transformation, İstanbul.
