Kazan şehri Rusya'ya bağlı federal Tataristan Cumhuriyeti'nin başkentidir. Şehir, tarihsel süreçte bölgede kurulan Kazan Devleti'ne ismini vermiştir. Müslüman Kazanlılar XVI. asrın ortalarında itibaren Rus egemenliğine girmişlerdir. Onların Ruslara karşı mücadeleleri üç asır boyunca dini ve milli kimliklerini korumak adına canlılığını korumuştur. XIX. ve XX. asırlarda ilmî ve kültürel alanda gelişme imkânına sahip olan Kazanlılar işgalden kurtulma gayesiyle tecdid hareketi adı altında bir ihya ve ıslah çalışmasına girmişlerdir. Bu mücadelede başı çeken ilim adamları, eğitim sisteminin yenilenmesi ile kelâm ve fıkıh ilimlerini geri planda tutarak, hadis ve sünnet ilimlerinin yaygınlaştırılmasını amaçlamışlardır. XX. asrın sonlarına kadar devam eden bu tecdid hareketi, farklı yönelişleri de beraberinde getirmiştir. Çalışmada XIX. ve XX. asırlarda dinî ilimlerde hadis ve sünnet çalışmalarını önceleyen Kazan âlimlerinin eserleri, hadis ve sünnet anlayışı itibariyle incelenmektedir. Bu alanda çalışma yapan âlimlerin tecdid hareketine de yön veren kişiler olması çalışmanın önemini arttırmaktadır. Dönem içerisinde hareketin öncü âlimleri Kursavî ve Mercânî, Hanefî sünnet anlayışını devam ettirmelerine rağmen bazı konularda genel görüşe muhâlif hareket etmişlerdir. XX. yüzyıl âlimlerinden Âlimcan Barudî, Rızâeddin b. Fahreddin ve Mûsâ Cârullah ise tecdid hareketinde aldıkları rol ile birlikte sünnetin aktüel değeri yönünde bir takım fikirler geliştirmişlerdir. Âlimlerin itikâdî ve amelî konularda hadislerin kullanımı açısından geleneksel anlayışa dair tespit, tahlil ve tenkitleri, çalışmada hadis-sünnet ilimlerinin pratik faydasını göstermesi açısından incelenmektedir. Özellikle Eş'arî anlayışa karşı sert tavır, dönemin siyasi ve sosyal yapısıyla ilişki kurarak okunmalıdır. Âmelî meselelerde ise yaşadıkları bölgenin coğrafi ve siyasi yapısı onları ictihadda bulunmaya sevk etmiştir. The city of Kazan is the capital of the federal Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. The city gave its name to the Kazan State, which was established in the region in the historical process. Muslim Kazan residents have been under Russian rule since the middle of the 16th century. Their struggle against the Russians has been alive for three centuries in order to preserve their religious and national identity. The people of Kazan, who had the opportunity to develop in the scientific and cultural field in the 19th and 20th centuries, entered into a revival and improvement work under the name of the renovation movement in order to get rid of the occupation. The scientists who took the lead in this struggle aimed to disseminate the sciences of hadith and sunnah by keeping the sciences of kalam and fiqh in the background with the renewal of the education system. This renovation movement, which continued until the end of the 20th century, brought different orientations with it. In this study, the works of Kazan scholars, who prioritized the studies of hadith and sunnah in religious sciences in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the understanding of hadith and sunnah are examined. The fact that the scholars working in this field are also the ones who directed the renovation movement increases the importance of the study. During the period, although the scholars of the first century Kursavi and Mercani continued the Hanafi Sunnah understanding, they acted contrary to the general opinion on some issues. Alimdjan Barudee, one of the 20th century scholars, Rizaeddin b. Fakhreddin and Musa Djarullah, on the other hand, developed some ideas about the actual value of sunnah, together with their role in the renovation movement. In this study, the determination, analyzes and criticisms of the scholars on the traditional understanding in terms of the use of hadiths in theological and practical issues are examined in terms of showing the practical benefit of hadith-sunnah sciences. Especially the harsh attitude towards the Ash'ari understanding should be read in relation to the political and social structure of the period. In practical matters, the geographical and political structure of the region they lived in prompted them to make ijtihad.
