Bu çalışmada, sanatın her türlü alanına katkı sağlayan, insanın hayal gücünü geliştiren mitoloji dalının tamamlayıcı üyelerinden biri olan Herakles efsanesinin yer aldığı gemmeler konu olarak ele alınmıştır. Gemmeler hakkında en yoğun araştırmalar 19-20. yüzyıllarda yapılmıştır. Bazı örnekler ne yazık ki gerekli incelemeler yapılamadan şahısların koleksiyonuna girerek, envanter kayıtlarına alınamamıştır. Bu tür nedenlerden dolayı örnekler üzerinde bilimsel çalışmalar ve incelemeler yapılamamıştır. Müze katalogları ve incelenen kaynakçalarda ise kayıt altına alınmış eserlerin benzer yorumlamalarına sık rastlanmıştır. Antik çağ sanatının önde gelen öğelerinden olan gemme işlemeciliği (değerli taş işlemeciliği) ve mitolojik bir unsur olarak antik çağ halklarını derinden etkilemiş hikâyeleri anlatılan, Zeus oğlu Herakles karakteri seçilerek, doğumundan, ölümüne geçen zaman içindeki zorlu yaşamından esinlenilen eserler incelenmiştir. Eserlerde Herakles'in yaşamı içinde önemli yere sahip olan görevlerinin gemmeler üzerindeki betimlerinin araştırılması ve değerli taşlar üzerinde Herakles figürü kullanılan gemmeler özelinde incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gemmeler antik çağ eserleri arasında önemli bir yere sahip olan sanat eserleridir. Bu eserler çalışma yapılmak için belirlendiğinde eserlerin çokluğu ve konu genişliği nedeni ile konu kısıtlamasına gidilmiştir. Kayıt altına alınmış gemmelerin taramaları yapıldıktan sonra gemmeler, mitolojik karakterlerden Herakles'in görevleri çerçevesinde daraltılmıştır. Çalışma için yapılan literatür taramalarında pek çok farklı dilden yazarın kitapları incelenmiştir. İncelemelerde konu ile ilgili görülen eserlerden çeviriler yapılmıştır. Ayrıca görseller konusunda müze katalogları, çevrimiçi kataloglar ve kitaplar araştırılıp konu ile ilgili kısımlarına çalışmada yer verilmiştir. In this study, the gems, which is one of the complementary members of the branch of mythology that contributes to all kinds of art and develops the imagination of human beings, where the legend of Heracles takes place, is taken as a subject. The most intensive research on gemmeler was conducted in the 19th-20th centuries. Unfortunately, some specimens entered the collection of individuals without the necessary examinations and could not be included in the inventory records. For such reasons, scientific studies and examinations could not be carried out on the samples. In museum catalogs and bibliographies, similar interpretations of the recorded works were frequently encountered. The character of Heracles, son of Zeus, who is one of the leading elements of ancient art, and whose stories deeply affected the peoples of antiquity as a mythological element, was chosen and the works inspired by his difficult life from his birth to his death were examined. It is aimed to investigate the depictions of Heracles duties, which have an important place in the life of Heracles, on the gemmules and to examine the gemmules with the figure of Heracles on gemstones. Gems are works of art that have an important place among the works of antiquity. When these artifacts were identified for study, the subject was restricted due to the large number of artifacts and the breadth of the subject. After the scans of the recorded gems were made, the gems were narrowed down within the framework of the duties of Heracles, one of the mythological characters. In the literature review conducted for the study, books by authors from many different languages were examined. Translations were made from the works related to the subject. In addition, museum catalogs, online catalogs and books on visuals were searched and the relevant parts were included in the study.
