Bu çalışmada, lise öğrencileri ve velilerinin bilimin doğası algılarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca lise öğrencileri ve velilerinin bilimin doğası algılarının çeşitli değişkenlere göre değişimine bakılmıştır. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel tarama modeli kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Çalışmada lise öğrencileri ve velilerinin argümantasyon olarak bilimin doğası algıları betimlenmek istendiğinden dolayı tarama modeli benimsenmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılı ikinci döneminde, gönüllülük esasına bağlı olarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma Konya ilinde bulunan liselerde öğrenim gören öğrencileri ve velilerini kapsamaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklem grubu 428 lise öğrencisi ve bunların 428 velisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada Sampson ve Clark (2006) tarafından geliştirilen ve Çetin, Erduran ve Kaya, (2010) tarafından Türkçe' ye uyarlanan "Argümantasyon Olarak Bilimin Doğası Anketi (NSAAQ)" kullanılmıştır. Analizlerde t testi, tek yönlü ANOVA ve basit doğrusal korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda lise öğrencileri ve velilerinin orta düzeyde bilimin doğası algısına sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin bilimin doğası algıları cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, yaşadıkları yerleşim yeri, ailenin aylık ortalama geliri gibi değişkenlere göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemiştir. Öğrenci velilerinde ise sadece birinci alt boyut (bilimsel bilgiyi nasıl tanımlarsınız?) açısından erkekler lehine anlamlı bir farklılık belirlenmiştir. Diğer değişkenler açısından anlamlı fark bulunamamıştır. Farklar anlamlı olmasa da eğitim düzeyi en yüksek olan (yükseköğretim) en düşük ortalama puana sahip olması manidardır. Abd‐El‐Khalick ve BouJaoude (1997) sınıf düzeyleri ve deneyimleri oldukça farklı fen öğretmenlerinin bilimin doğası algılarını oldukça benzer ve yetersiz belirlemiştir. Buradan hareketle günümüz örgün öğretim sürecinin bilimin doğasının daha sofistike biçimde kavratılmasında önemli eksikleri olduğu söylenebilir. Son olarak öğrenci ve velilerin bilimin doğası algıları arasında kuvvetli bir ilişki belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin bilimin doğası algıları %49 düzeyinde velilerinin bilimin doğası algıları ile açıklanabilmektedir. Buradan hareketle örgün eğitimin lise öğrencileri üzerinde bilimin doğası algıları açısından istenen iyileşmeyi sağlayamadığını söylemek yanlış olmaz. Araştırmada öğrencilerin bilimin doğası algıları ile velilerinin bilimin doğası algıları arasında güçlü bir ilişki olduğu görülmüştür. In this study, it was aimed to determine the perceptions of high school students and their parents about the nature of science. In addition, the change of high school students and their parents' perceptions of the nature of science according to various variables was examined. The research was conducted using the descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. In the study, the scanning model was adopted since it was desired to describe the perceptions of the nature of science as argumentation of high school students and their parents. The data of the study were collected in the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, on a voluntary basis. The research includes students and their parents studying at high schools in Konya. The sample group of the study consists of 428 high school students and their 428 parents. The "Nature of Science as Argumentation Questionnaire (NSAAQ)" developed by Sampson and Clark (2006) and adapted into Turkish by Çetin, Erduran and Kaya, (2010) was used. T-test, one-way ANOVA and simple linear correlation analysis were used in the analyses. As a result of the research, it was seen that high school students and their parents had a moderate perception of the nature of science. The students' perceptions of the nature of science did not show a significant difference according to variables such as gender, class level, place of residence, and average monthly income of the family. On the other hand, there was a significant difference in favor of boys in terms of only the first sub-dimension (how do you define scientific knowledge?) among students' parents. No significant difference was found in terms of other variables. Although the differences are not significant, it is significant that those with the highest education level (higher education) have the lowest average score. Abd‐El‐Khalick and BouJaoude (1997) determined the nature of science perceptions of science teachers, whose grade levels and experiences were quite different, were very similar and inadequate. From this point of view, it can be said that today's formal education process has important deficiencies in comprehending the nature of science in a more sophisticated way. Finally, a strong relationship was determined between students' and parents' perceptions of the nature of science. The students' perceptions of the nature of science can be explained by their parents' perceptions of the nature of science at the level of 49%. From this point of view, it would not be wrong to say that formal education cannot provide the desired improvement in high school students' perceptions of the nature of science. In the study, it was observed that there was a strong relationship between students' perceptions of the nature of science and their parents' perceptions of the nature of science.
