Bu araştırmanın amacı, Liselere Geçiş Sınavı (LGS) matematik sorularının öğrenci başarısına ve matematik öğretim programına uygunluğunun değerlendirilmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma tekniklerinden durum analizi deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Konya ili Hüyük ilçesinde öğrenim gören 30 (otuz) sekizinci sınıf öğrencisi, bu ilçede görev yapan 10 (on) matematik öğretmeni, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 ve 2022 yıllarında yapılan LGS matematik soruları oluşturmuştur. Veriler doküman analizi ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmada, verilerin analizinde Nvivo programı kullanılmış ve şu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Buna göre; LGS matematik testlerinin sağa çarpık dağılım gösterdiği, matematik testi başarısının ve öğrenme düzeyinin oldukça düşük olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. LGS matematik testiyle ilgili olarak, araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yarıya yakını başarısız olduklarını belirtirken, öğretmenlerin tamamı matematik dersi (testi) başarısının düşük olduğunu ve LGS'nin matematik öğretim programı özel amaçlarının tamamını ölçmede yetersiz kaldığı yönünde görüş belirtmişlerdir. LGS'de en fazla yer verilen öğrenme alanlarının "sayılar ve işlemler" ve "cebir", en az yer verilen öğrenme alanlarının ise "geometri ve ölçme", "olasılık" ve "veri işleme" olduğu sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Matematik öğretim programı konu ve kazanımlarının; LGS matematik testi sorularında, araştırmaya katılan öğretmen ve öğrenci görüşlerine göre de dengeli dağılmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Matematik öğretim programındaki 52 kazanımdan 7 kazanımla ilgili sorulara LGS matematik testi sorularında her yıl yer verilirken, 6 kazanımla ilgili sorulara yer verilmediği, ünitelerin kazanım sayılarının LGS'de soru dağılımını etkilemediği, araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin yarısının da bu doğrultuda görüş belirttikleri görülmüştür. Matematik öğretim programında önerilen ders sürelerinin LGS'de soru dağılımını etkilemediği görülürken, öğretmenlerin de büyük çoğunluğunun önerilen ders sürelerinin LGS soru dağılımını etkilemediğine dair görüş belirttikleri görülmüştür. Ayrıca araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin tamamı LGS matematik sorularının matematik öğretim programında belirtilen ölçme ve değerlendirme tekniklerine uygun hazırlanmadığı yönünde görüş belirtirken, öğretmenlerin ve öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğunun LGS'de çoktan seçmeli test tekniğinin kullanılmasının matematik başarısını artırdığını ifade etmişlerdir. Son olarak araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin tamamı ve öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğu LGS'nin süresinin matematik dersi başarısını düşürdüğünü, belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenlerin tamamı ve öğrencilerin çoğunun LGS matematik sorularının öğrenci düzeyine uygun olmadığını ifade ettikleri sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the appropriateness of the mathematics questions in the high school transition exam (LGS) for the mathematics curriculum and to assess the students' success. The situation analysis technique, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used in the study. The sample of the study consisted of 30 (thirty) eighth grade students in Hüyük district in Konya, 10 (ten) mathematics teachers working in the district, and LGS mathematics questions from 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Data were collected through document analysis and semi-structured interview questionnaires. The research used the Nvivo programme to analyse the data and the following results were obtained. It was concluded that the LGS math tests had a right skewed distribution and that the success and learning level of the math test were quite low. With respect to the LGS mathematics test, almost half of the students participating in the study indicated that they were unsuccessful, while all teachers indicated that mathematics instructional success (testing) was low and that LGS was insufficient to measure all of the specific objectives of the mathematics curriculum. It was noted that the most frequently used learning areas in LGS were "Numbers and Operations" and "Algebra" and the least included learning areas were "Geometry and Measurement," "Probability," and "Data Processing"; it was noted that the LGS math test questions were not evenly distributed according to the views of the teachers and students participating in the study.While questions on 7 of the 52 math curriculum outcomes each year are included in the LGS math test questions, questions on 6 outcomes are not included, the number of unit outcomes is not included in LGS. It was found that half of the teachers who participated in the survey expressed their opinion along these lines and that the proposed course times in the math curriculum do not affect the distribution of questions in LGS. While all respondents indicated that the LGS mathematics questions were not created in accordance with the measurement and assessment techniques specified in the mathematics curriculum, the majority of teachers and students indicated that the use of multiple-choice testing techniques in LGS increased their mathematics achievement. Finally, all teachers and the majority of students participating in the study indicated that the duration of the LGS decreased their mathematics achievement. All teachers and most students indicated that the LGS math questions were not appropriate for the students' level.
