Geçmiş yıllardan bugüne kadar geçen süreçte çoğu ülkede çeşitli krizler yaşanmıştır. Yaşanan krizlerin sebeplerini bulmak ve çözüm yolu üretmek, iktisat biliminin var olduğu günden bu yana ekonomik çalışmalarda en önemli konulardan biri olmuştur. Bu zamana kadar yaşanan krizler, evrenselleşmenin etkisiyle bağımlı olsun olmasın ülkelerin ekonomilerini etkileyerek zincirleme reaksiyon göstermektedir. Kriz kavramı, ekonomik konjonktürdeki genişleme döneminden farklı bir daralma evresine geçişi ifade etmektedir. Başka bir deyişle kriz, oluşumuna sebep olan nedenler ve oluşumu sonrasında oluşturduğu sonuçlar açısından dikkat edilmesi gereken bir husustur. Krizler, ekonomide olağan dışı hareketliliğe, sistemlerin işlevini kaybetmesine ve büyük çaplı ekonomik dalgalanmalara neden olmaktadır. Meydana geldiği anda ekonomik sistemi alt üst eden krizler, zaman serileri üzerinde yapısal kırılmalara sebep olmaktadır. Değişen konjonktüre göre kullanılan finansal analiz yöntemlerinin yetersiz olmasından kaynaklı yeni analiz tekniklerinin geliştirilmesine ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Dalgacık dönüşümü analizi, çeşitli alanlarda kullanılan, zaman ve frekans analizine dayanan bir yöntemdir. Literatürde yaygın olarak kullanılan bu analiz türü, görüntü işleme, frekans analizi, gürültü ayıklama ve finansal tahmin yöntemlerinde oldukça etkili sonuçlar vermektedir. Bu zamana kadar yapılan çalışmalar arasında dalgacık dönüşümü analizi yöntemi ile geçmiş kriz anı tespit uygulaması yapılmadığı için yapılan çalışma ile literatüre katkı sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 1994-2022 döneminde yaşanan olayların Türkiye ekonomi piyasaları üzerindeki tepkilerini analiz etmektir. Döviz, Enflasyon ve Borsa İstanbul Endeksi verilerinden oluşan finansal piyasaların tepkileri dalgacık dönüşümü yardımıyla incelenerek analize konu olan dönemler arasında yaşanan ekonomik krizlerin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda dalgacık dönüşümü analizi yardımıyla geçmişte yaşanan kriz dönemlerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Many countries have experienced various crises in the past years. Finding the causes of the crises and finding solutions has been one of the most important issues in economic studies since the day the science of economics came into existence. The crises experienced so far show a chain reaction by affecting the economies of countries, whether they are dependent or not, with the effect of universalization. The concept of crisis refers to the transition from a period of expansion in the economic conjuncture to a different phase of contraction. In other words, a crisis is an issue that requires attention in terms of the causes that lead to its occurrence and the consequences of its occurrence. Crises cause extraordinary mobility in the economy, loss of functioning of systems and large-scale economic fluctuations. Crises, which turn the economic system upside down as soon as they occur, cause structural breaks in time series. There is a need to develop new analysis techniques due to the inadequacy of financial analysis methods used according to the changing conjuncture. Wavelet transform analysis is a method based on time and frequency analysis used in various fields. This type of analysis, which is widely used in the literature, gives very effective results in image processing, frequency analysis, noise extraction and financial forecasting methods. This study aims to contribute to the literature since there has not been an application of wavelet transform analysis method to detect past crisis moments among the studies conducted so far. The aim of this study is to analyze the reactions of the events in the period 1994-2022 on the Turkish economic markets. By analyzing the responses of financial markets consisting of foreign exchange, inflation and Borsa Istanbul Index data with the help of wavelet transform, it is aimed to identify the economic crises experienced between the periods subject to analysis. In this context, it is aimed to identify the crisis periods experienced in the past with the help of wavelet transform analysis.
