Epileptik nöbet bir grup serebral nöronun ani, anormal ve aşırı boşalmasına bağlı olarak geçici bulgu ve/veya semptomların ortaya çıkmasıdır. Epilepsinin çeşitli çalışmalarda genel popülasyonda görülme sıklığı % 0,5-0,8’dir.Çalışmamızda bir yıl içinde başvuran 138 hastanın nöbet tipleri, etyolojik faktörleri, altta yatan risk faktörleri, nöbet tekrarı, prognozu ve prognozu belirleyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi, hastaların özgeçmişinin, aile öyküsünün, EEG kayıtlarının, beyin MRG bulgularının değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı.Çalışmamızda 138 olgunun 60’ı (% 43,5) febril nöbet, 8’i (% 5,8) MSS enfeksiyonu, 6’sı travma (% 4,3), 3’ü (% 2,1) intoksikasyon, 4’ü (% 2,9) metabolik problem sonrası nöbet, 4’ü ateşin tetiklediği nöbet (% 2,9), 55’i (% 39,9) tetiklenmemiş nöbet olarak değerlendirildi.Elli beş tetiklenmemiş nöbetin 22’si (% 40) tek tetiklenmemiş nöbet, 13’ü (% 23,6) iki kez, 12’si (% 21,8) üç kez, 3’ü (% 5,5) dört kez, 2’si (% 3,6) beş kez, 3’ü de (% 5,5) altı kez nöbet geçirdi. İki ve üzeri tetiklenmemiş nöbet geçirenler epilepsi olarak kabul edildi ve ilaç başlandı. Çalışmamızda tüm olgularda yaşın 72 aydan küçük olması ile nöbet tekrarı arasında istatistiksel anlamlı ilişki bulundu. Nöroradyolojik verilerin patolojik olması durumunda nöbet tekrarının arttığı görüldü. Verilerimiz değerlendirildiğinde EEG’nin patolojik olması ile de nöbetin tekrarı arasında da istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki bulundu.Çalışmamızda tetiklenmemiş nöbeti olan olgularda ise yaşın 72 aydan büyük olması ile nöbet tekrarı arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki saptandı. Ayrıca tetiklenmemiş nöbeti olan olgularda patolojik EEG bulgusu ve patolojik beyin MRG bulguları ile nöbet tekrarı arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki vardı. Epileptic seizure is emergence of transient findings and/or symptoms due to sudden, abnormal and excessive discharge of a group of cerebral neurons. Various studies have shown that the incidence of epilepsy in the general population is about 0.5-0.8 %.This study included 138 cases that admitted in one year, we aimed to determine the type of seizures, etiologic factors, underlying risk factors, seizure recurrence, prognosis and factors determining prognosis; and to evaluate patient’s medical history, family history, EEG records, brain MRI findings. Out of 138 cases in our study, the following assessment was made: 60 (43 %) febrile seizure, 8 (5,8 %) CNS infection, 6 (4,3 %) trauma, 3 (2,1 %) intoxication, 4 (2,9 %) seizure after metabolic problems, 4 (2,9 %) seizure provoked by fever, and 55 (39,9 %) unprovoked seizure.Out of 55 unprovoked seizure cases, 22 of them (40 %) were single unprovoked seizure, 13 (23,6 %) had twice, 12 (21,8 %) had three times, 3 (5,5 %) had four times, 2 (3,6 %) had five times and 3 (5,5 %) had six times unprovoked seizures. Those who had seizures twice or more were considered as epilepsy patients and they started getting medication.In our study, an age of less than 72 months can be said to be a risk factor for recurrence of seizures. In the event that the neuroradiological datas are pathological, the prevalence of seizure recurrence was seen to increase at an advanced level. When data were evaluated, a statistically significant relationship was also found between pathological EEG findingsand seizure recurrence. In our study, a statistically significant relationship was found between an age being bigger than 72 months and seizure recurrence for the patients who experienced unprovoked seizures. In addition, pathological EEG findings and pathological brain MRI findings were found to have a statistically significant relationship with seizure recurrence for the unprovoked seizure cases.
