Biyokütle enerji santrallerinde, enerji kaynağı olarak biyokütle kullanılmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, yanma sonrası kalan fosfor (P) ve potasyum (K) gibi besin maddeleri içeren biyokütle taban külleri, değerlendirilmek yerine atılmaktadır. Biyokütle küllerindeki yüksek alkalinite ve ağır metal içerikleri, doğrudan tarım arazisi uygulamasını kısıtlayabilmektedir. Bu nedenle, biyokütle küllerinden P ve K geri kazanımı günümüzde önem arz eden bir konudur. Bu çalışmada biyokütle taban külünün kimyasal karakteristiği, element içeriği ve mineral yapısı belirlenmiştir. Asit ekstraksiyonu ve K-strüvit çöktürmesi ile biyokütle taban külünden P ve K geri kazanımı araştırılmıştır. Sülfürik asit (H2SO4) biyokütle taban külünden P, K ve diğer elementleri ekstrakte etmek için kullanılmıştır. Biyokütle taban külünün ekstraksiyonu üzerine deneysel şartların etkisi (H2SO4 konsantrasyonu, sıcaklık ve sıvı/katı oranı) Box–Behnken deney tasarımı ile belirlenmiştir. P ve K salınımları için optimum deney koşulları H2SO4 konsantrasyonu 0,6 M, sıcaklık 25 °C ve sıvı/katı oranı 8/1 mL/g olduğunda elde edilmiştir. Optimum koşullar altında P ve K salımları sırasıyla 2720 mg/L ve 7462 mg/L olmuştur. Bu optimum koşullarda elde edilen ekstrat sıvısından K ve P geri kazanımı için Mg:K:P molar oranı 1:1:1 durumunda K-strüvit çöktürmesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Geri kazanılan çökeltilerin kristal yapıları, X-ışını toz difraktometresi ile (XRD) analiz edilmiştir. XRD sonuçları, pH 9, 10 ve 11'de kurutulmuş çökeltilerin ana kristal formlarında K-strüvit (MgKPO4.6H2O) ve hazenit (KNaMg2(PO4)2.14H2O) oluşumunu göstermiştir. Hazenit de strüvit grubunun bir üyesidir. K-strüvit çöktürmesi ile ekstrat sıvısından PO4-P giderim verimleri pH 9, 10 ve 11 değerlerinde sırasıyla %98,67, %98,70 ve %77,88 olarak elde edilmiştir. Bu çalışma, asit ekstraksiyonu ve K-strüvit çöktürmesi ile biyokütle taban külünden K ve P geri kazanımının mümkün olabildiğini göstermiştir. Biomass are used as energy sources for biomass power plant. However, the biomass bottom ashes remaining after combustion, which contain nutrients such as phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), are landfilled rather than utilised. High alkalinity and heavy metal contents in the biomass ashes may restrict theit direct agriculturel land application. Thus, recovery of P and K from biomass ashes is an important issue today. In this study, the element contents, mineral composition, morphology and chemical composition of biomass bottom ash were determined. And, recovery of P and K from biomass ash was investigated using acid extraction and K-struvite precipitation. Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) was used to extract P, K and other elements from biomass bottom ash. The effect of experimental conditions over the extraction of biomass ash such as H2SO4 concentration, temperature and liquid/solid ratio was determined with Box–Behnken design. An optimum condition for the releases of P and K was obtained at a H2SO4 concentration of 0.6 M, a temperature of 25 °C, and a liquid/solid ratio of 8/1(mL/g). Under the optium conditions, the releases of P and K were 2720 mg/L and 7462 mg/L, respectively. K-struvite precipitation at an Mg:K:P molar ratio of 1:1:1 was performed for K and P recovery from the extract liquid obtained under this optimum conditions. Crystal structures of the recovered precipitates were analyzed X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD). The XRD results indicated K-struvite (MgKPO4.6H2O) and hazenite (KNaMg2(PO4)2.14H2O) the main crystal forms of dried precipiatetes at pH 9, 10 and 11. Hazenite is also a member of the struvite group. The removal efficiencies of PO4-P from the extracted liquid by K-struvite precipitation were obtained as 98.67%, 98.70% and 77.88% at pH 9, 10 and 11, respectively. This study showed that K and P recovery from biomass bottom ash is possible by acid extraction and K-struvite precipitation.
