Canlılar, içerisinde yaşadıkları tabiat ve su kaynakları ile bir denge halindedir. Suların içerisine karışan organik boyar maddeler; biyobozunur olmamaları, canlı dokularda birikme potansiyelleri ve çok düşük konsantrasyonlarda dahi toksik etki gösterebilmelerinden dolayı insan sağlığı ve ekosistemdeki diğer canlılar için önemli bir tehdit unsurudur. Bu sorunun çözümünde; etkili, basit, çevre dostu ve düşük maliyetli arıtma uygulamalarına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Adsorpsiyon tekniğini fotokatalitik etki ile birleştirmek, arıtma uygulamalarında fotokatalizör nanopartiküllerine adsorban özelliği kazandırmakla birlikte suların kirlenmesine sebebiyet veren organik boyar maddelerden de kolayca ayrıştırılmasını sağlamaktadır. Fotokatalitik etki proseslerinde, güneş ışığı ya da ultraviole (UV) ışık ışımaları ile doğrudan zararsız bileşenlere dönüştürülmesinde metal oksit yarı iletken malzemelerin kullanımı yaygınlaştırılmıştır. Tungsten oksit (WO3), fotokimyasal ve kimyasal kararlılığı ile yarı iletken malzemeler arasında yoğun ilgi görmektedir. Fakat yüksek rekombinasyon ve düşük bant aralığı gibi olumsuz özelliklerinin yapıya grafen ve türevlerinin ilave edilmesiyle WO3 yapısının fotokatalitik etki performansı geliştirilmektedir. Tez çalışmasında, WO3 ve in-situ sentez yöntemiyle sentezlenen tungsten oksit/grafen oksit (WO3/GO) nanokompozitinin atık sularda meydana getirdiği bir kirlilik olan metilen mavisi (MM) katyonik boyar maddesinin UV ışık ışıması altında adsorpsiyon kapasitesi ve fotokatalitik aktivesinin zamana karşı bozunma verimliliği incelenmiştir. İlk olarak, WO3/GO nanokompoziti in-situ sentez yöntemiyle sentezlenmiştir. Devam eden süreçlerde WO3 ve WO3/GO nanokompozitinin adsorpsiyon kapasiteleri ve fotokatalitik aktiveleri karşılaştırılmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Fotokatalitik aktive deneysel sonuçları ile kinetik çalışmalar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tungsten karbür (WC), GO, WO3 ve sentezlenen WO3/GO nanokompozitinin karakterizasyonları; Fourier dönüşümü kızılötesi spektrofotometresi (FT-IR), X-Işını difraktometresi (XRD) ve Taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM/EDS) analizleri ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. WO3 ve WO3/GO nanokompozitinin adsorpsiyon kapasite ve fotokatalitik aktive deneysel çalışmaları UV-vis spektrofotometresin de zamana karşı örneklerin absorbans değerlerinin ölçülmesiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen analiz sonuçlarında, SEM analizlerinde, WO3'ün GO yüzeyinde düzgün bir dağılım sergilediği ve FTIR sonuçlarında gözlemlenen O-W-O titreşim bantları yapıdaki GO varlığını doğrulamıştır. WO3 ve sentezlenen nanokompozit fotokatalizörlerin adsorpsiyon kapasite ve fotokatalitik aktivite deneysel çalışmaları UV-kabin içerisinde, ksenon lamba ışık ışıması altında ve MM katyonik boyar maddesinin zamana karşı bozunması ile incelenmiştir. Yapılan deneysel çalışmalar sonucunda, WO3/GO nanokompozitinin fotokatalitik aktivitesinin WO3'e göre 270 dakikada %96,30 daha yüksek bozunma verimliliği gösterdiği ve fotokatalitik bozunma süresi arttıkça verimliliğin de arttığı gözlemlenmiştir. Kinetik çalışmalar doğrultusunda modelin, sözde birinci derece kinetik modele uygunluk sağladığı görülmüştür. MM katyonik boyar maddesinin fotokatalitik etki yarılanma ömrü ise WO3 için 54,23 dk, WO3/GO nanokompoziti için 72,95 dk, regrasyon katsayı (R2) değerleri ise sırasıyla 0,9992 ve 0,9994 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Organic dyestuffs mixed with water; Due to their non-biodegradability, their potential to accumulate in living tissues and their toxic effects even at very low concentrations, they pose a significant threat to human health and other living things in the ecosystem. In solving this problem; effective, simple, environmentally friendly and low-cost treatment applications are needed. Combining the adsorption technique with the photocatalytic effect provides adsorbent properties to the photocatalyst nanoparticles in purification applications, while allowing it to be easily separated from organic dyestuffs that cause water pollution. In photocatalytic effect processes, the use of metal oxide semiconductor materials has become widespread in direct conversion to harmless components by sunlight or ultraviolet (UV) light radiation. Tungsten oxide (WO3) is of great interest among semiconductor materials with its photochemical and chemical stability. However, the photocatalytic effect performance of WO3 structure is improved by adding graphene and its derivatives to the structure with its negative properties such as high recombination and low band gap. In the thesis study, the adsorption capacity of methylene blue (MM) cationic dyestuff, which is a pollution caused by tungsten oxide/graphene oxide (WO3/GO) nanocomposite synthesized by WO3 and in-situ synthesis method, under UV light irradiation and the degradation efficiency of photocatalytic activity against time examined. In the first stage, WO3/GO nanocomposite was synthesized by in-situ synthesis method. In the ongoing processes, the adsorption capacities and photocatalytic activities of WO3 and WO3/GO nanocomposites were investigated comparatively. Kinetic studies were carried out with the experimental results of photocatalytic activation. Characterizations of tungsten carbide (WC), GO, WO3 and synthesized WO3/GO nanocomposite; Fourier transform was performed by infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR), X-Ray diffractometry (XRD) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM/EDS) analyzes. The adsorption capacity and photocatalytic activation experimental studies of WO3 and the synthesized WO3/GO nanocomposite were carried out by measuring the absorbance values of the samples against time in UV-vis spectrophotometer. As a result of the analysis, the O-W-O vibration bands observed in the FTIR results and that WO3 exhibited a uniform distribution on the GO surface in the SEM analyzes confirmed the existence of GO. The adsorption capacity and photocatalytic activity experimental studies of WO3 and the synthesized nanocomposite photocatalysts were investigated in UV-cabinet, under xenon lamp light irradiation and with the degradation of MB cationic dyestuff against time. As a result of the experimental studies, it was observed that the photocatalytic activity of WO3/GO nanocomposite showed a higher degradation efficiency of 96.30% in 270 minutes compared to WO3 and the efficiency increased as the photocatalytic degradation time increased. In line with the kinetic studies, it has been seen that the model conforms to the so-called first-order kinetic model. The photocatalytic effect half-life of the MM cationic dyestuff was calculated as 54.23 min for WO3, 72.95 min for WO3/GO nanocomposite, and the regression coefficient (R2) values were calculated as 0.9992 and 0.9994, respectively.
