İnsanoğlu varlığından bu yana inançları ve gelenekleri doğrultusunda yaşamını sürdürürken dine, kültüre ve sanata sembolik anlamlar yüklemiştir. Toplumların birbirleriyle etkileşimleri sonucu mitolojik kavramlar biçim değiştirerek değer kazanmış nesilden nesile aktarılmıştır. Bu çalışmada; Zümrüdüanka motifinin eski dönemlerden bu yana toplumlar arasındaki mitolojik anlatımı, fiziki yapısı, taşıdığı anlam, fantastik özellikleri ve görsel sanatlar üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Toplumların kültürleri ve inançları doğrultusunda sembolize ettikleri Zümrüdüanka motifini halı, minyatür, çini, el yazmaları gibi çeşitli sanat dallarına taşıdıkları ve birçok eser ürettikleri görülmüştür. Çalışmanın uygulama kısmında geleneksel sanatlarımızdan biri olan ahşap oyma sanatının tarihsel süreci araştırılmış, mimari ve kullanım alanları incelenerek günümüze yetişen eserlerden oyma tekniklerine ulaşılmıştır. Ulaşılan bu bilgiler doğrultusunda, Zümrüdüanka motifinde işlenmek üzere geleneksel Türk sanatlarında kullanılan bitkisel ve geometrik motifler seçilerek ahşap oymaya uygun yeni tasarımlar oluşturulmuştur. 18 adet eskiz arasından belirlenen sekiz tasarım uygulama için seçilmiştir. Hammadde olarak çalışmalarımızın boyutlarına bağlı olarak kayın, ceviz ve ıhlamur ağaçları kullanılarak, ahşap oyma sanatında görülen heykel oyma tekniği, eğri kesim tekniği, dekupaj oyma tekniği ve düz satıh oyma tekniği sekiz farklı eser üzerinde çalışılmıştır. Boyut düşüncesi ile bezemede kullanılan motiflerin yeni formlarının şekillendirilmesi tamamlanmıştır. Değişik ebatlarda olan bu uygulamaların şekillendirme işlemleri bittikten sonra belirlediğimiz bazı çalışmaların dekoratif kullanım özellikleri gözetilerek farklı materyallerle birleştirilmiştir. Son olarak ahşap boyaları ile boyanarak verniklenmiştir. Böylece geleneksel değerler korunarak, kullanıldıkları alanların dışına çıkılmış; özgün, dekoratif ve aynı zamanda sanatsal formlara dönüştürülmesi amacına ulaşılmıştır. Mankind has attached symbolic meanings to religion, culture and art while continuing its life in accordance with its beliefs and traditions since its existence. As a result of the interaction of societies with each other, mythological concepts have gained value by changing their form and have been passed on from generation to generation. In this study; The mythological narrative of the Emerald figure among societies since ancient times, its physical structure, the meaning it carries, its fantastic properties and its impact on visual arts have been investigated. Dec. It has been seen that societies have carried the figure of the Emerald, which they symbolize in accordance with their cultures and beliefs, to various branches of art such as carpets, miniatures, tiles, manuscripts and produced many works. In the application part of the study, the historical process of the art of wood carving, one of our traditional arts, was investigated, architectural and usage areas were examined and carving techniques were reached from the works that have grown up to the present day. In accordance with this information, new designs suitable for wood carving have been created by selecting the floral and geometric motifs used in traditional Turkish arts to be processed in the Emerald figure. Decipher eight designs from 18 sketches were selected for application. Depending on the dimensions of our works, beech, walnut and linden trees were used as raw materials. Sculpture carving technique, curve cutting technique, decoupage carving technique and flat surface carving technique seen in wood carving art were studied on eight different works. The shaping of the new forms of the motifs used in decoration with the idea of size has been completed. After the forming processes of these applications, which have different sizes, have been completed, they have been combined with different materials by considering the decorative usage characteristics of some of the works we have determined. Finally, it was painted with wood paints and varnished. Thus, by preserving traditional values, they have been taken out of the areas where they are used; the aim of transforming them into original, decorative and at the same time artistic forms has been achieved.
