Cinema is one of the most efficient means of expression which can meet the needs and expectations of the modern era. In this research, the phenomenological and hermeneutical analysis of the film “Three Colors: Blue” by the Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski, who is regarded as “the cinematic poet” and whose cinema’s essence is visuality, is carried out from philosophical and visual viewpoints. In this paper, how the symbolical elements are used as a means of creating aesthetics and meaning in this particular film is examined and evaluated. This research is a descriptive survey model as it aims to depict the existing situation. In the film which focuses on people’s pursuit of meaning and freedom in their individual lives, the transition of Lucy from nothingness, which she experiences by pushing the limits of reality, to her finding a meaning in her life and her transformation is portrayed. Throughout the film, the metaphors are found to be used in accordance with the content and they signify specific layers of expression. In the film, image, color and music act like movie actors. The director expresses Julie’s past, memories and pursuit of happiness by using scenes in which the color blue is dominant and strengthens that expression by placing blue objects in the film. The music of Zbigniew Priesner is in line with the tone of the movie and it reinforces the meaning.Sinema, modern dönemin görsel ve işitsel ihtiyaçlarına cevap verebilen en etkili anlatı araçlarından biridir. Bu araştırmada; sinemanın şairi olarak kabul edilen, sinemasının esası görsellik olan Polonyalı yönetmen Krzysztof Kieslowski’nin “Üç Renk: Mavi” filminin önce felsefi sonra görsel açıdan, fenomenolojik ve hermeneutik analizi yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Mavi filmi özelinde estetik ve anlam yaratma aracı olarak sembolik öğelerin nasıl kullanıldığı incelenmiş ve değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma, var olan durumu belirlemeye yönelik olduğundan “betimsel tarama” modelindedir. İnsanların bireysel hayatlarındaki anlam ve özgürlük arayışlarına odaklanan filmde, Julie’nin, dünyada gerçekliğin sınırlarını zorlayarak yaşadığı hiçlikten, hayatına anlam bulma durumuna geçişi ve dönüşümü anlatılmaktadır. Filmde; görsel unsurların içeriğe göre seçildiği/kullanıldığı ve belirli anlamsal göndermelerde bulunduğu görülmüştür. Kieslowski; imge, renk ve müziği oyuncu olarak filmine dahil etmiştir. Yönetmen; Julie’nin geçmişini, anılarını, özgürlük arayışını mavi rengin baskın olduğu planlar kullanarak anlatmış ve yine mavi objeleri filmin içine yerleştirerek bu anlatımı kuvvetlendirmiştir. Zbigniew Preisner’in yaptığı müzikler filmin tonuna uyum sağlamış ve anlamı oldukça güçlü kılmıştır.
