The main objective of the study is to state theeffect on job performance of job stress in the scope of accountants and otheraccounting staff(accountant trainee and assistant accounting staff). In this context, a questionnaire prepared wasapplied to 103 accountant and other accounting staff ( 32 accountant and 71other accounting staff) who is located in the province of Izmir between thedate of October 2014 and March 2015. Both groups stated that, extremism (interms of work load, competition and responsibility), role conflict, roleambiguity and uncertanity (in terms of experience, knowledge, communication andworking time), affect advanced negative to job performance by increasing jobstress. Accountant group considers that, ‘‘work load, competition, excessiveresponsibility, lack of experience and knowledge’’ affect more negative to jobperformance by increasing job stress. Whereas, other accounting staff considersthat ‘‘rol conflict and rol ambiguity’’ affect more negative to job performanceby increasing job stress. It is observed that, at accountants have A and B typepersonality traits, whereas other accounting staff have more common B typepersonality traits. Both groupsreported that, this profession has high stress level. In both two groups, workrelease level due to stress is higher than the mid-level. As a result, it canbe emphasized that in this study, accounting staff have high stress perceptionin their professional lives, managers can improve their performance byattaching importance to this issue.Araştırmanıntemel amacı, serbest muhasebeci mali müşavirler (SMMM) ve diğer muhasebeçalışanları (serbest muhasebeci mali müşavir stajyeri ve yardımcı personel)kapsamında iş stresinin iş performansına etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Bu kapsamdahazırlanan anket formu Ekim 2014 – Mart 2015 tarihleri arasında İzmir ilindeMuhasebe mesleğinde yer alan 103 muhasebe çalışanı (SMMM 32 birey ve diğermuhasebe çalışanları 71 birey) kapsamında uygulanmıştır. Her iki grup daaşırılığın (iş yükü, rekabet ve sorumluluk açısından), rol çatışması ve rolbelirsizliğinin, yetersizliğin (deneyim, bilgi, iletişim, çalışma süresiaçısından)  iş stresini artırarak işperformansını ileri düzeyde olumsuz etkilediğini belirtmişlerdir. SMMM grubu“iş yükü, rekabet, sorumluluk aşırılığı, deneyim ve bilgi yetersizliğinin işstresini artırarak iş performansını daha fazla olumsuz etkilediğinidüşünmektedir. Diğer muhasebe çalışanları ise, “rol çatışması ve rolbelirsizliği” nin iş performansını düşürücü etkisinin daha fazla olduğunudüşünmektedir. SMMM çalışanlarında A ve B tipi, diğer muhasebe çalışanlarındaise B tipi kişilik özellikleri daha yaygın çıkmıştır. Her iki grup da mesleğinyüksek stres düzeyi içerdiğini belirtmişlerdir. Her iki grup için de stresyüksekliği nedeniyle işten ayrılma orta düzeyden daha yüksek çıkmıştır. Sonuçolarak bu çalışma ile muhasebe çalışanlarının mesleki yaşamlarında yüksek stresalgısına sahip oldukları bu kapsamda yöneticilerin bu konuya önem vererekçalışanların performanslarını iyileştirecekleri vurgulanabilecektir.
