In a political systemdominated by democracy, voter has an important role in determining thegovernment. Voter preferences are influenced by many factors while voter is atthe point of determining the political power. Economic factors, as well associological and psychological factors that influence voter preference, haveincontrovertible role. In shaping political preferences and voting behaviortaxes are important alongside the other economic factors. One of theinstruments used by political actors to influence voter preferences, tax policyhas an important role especially during the election period. This study wasconducted to find out the level of the taxes on the preferences of voters.According to the findings obtained from thesurvey which was applied 445 voters in Sakarya province, taxes haveinfluence on voter preferences. It was also found that voters are sensitive totax policy. On the other hand, it was found that the economic success ofpolitical parties, the political agenda in the country, and the voters’political ideologies are effective on the voter preferences as well as taxpolicy. Demokrasinin hâkim olduğu bir siyasal sistem içerisinde, siyasi iktidarınbelirlenmesinde seçmen önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Seçmen siyasi iktidarınbelirlenmesi noktasında tercihte bulunurken birçok faktörden etkilenir. Seçmentercihini etkileyen sosyolojik ve psikolojik faktörlerin yanında ekonomikfaktörlerde önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Siyasi tercihlerin ve seçmendavranışlarının şekillenmesinde ekonomik faktörler içerisinde yer alan vergileretkilidir. Siyasi aktörlerin seçmen tercihlerini etkilemek için kullandığıaraçlardan biri olan vergi politikaları özellikle seçim dönemlerinde önemli birrol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışma seçmenlerin tercihleri üzerinde vergilerin nedüzeyde etkili olduğunu öğrenmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Sakarya ilinde 445katılımcı seçmen ile yapılan anket çalışmasından elde edilen bulgulara göre,seçmenlerin siyasi tercihlerinin belirlenmesinde vergilerin etkili olduğusonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca seçmenlerin vergi politikalarına duyarlı olduğugörülmüştür. Öte yandan seçmen tercihinde vergi politikalarının yanı sırasiyasi partilerin ekonomik başarısı, ülkedeki siyasi gündem ve seçmenlerinsahip olduğu ideolojik faktörlerin de etkili olduğu görülmüştür.
