Political participation is an important tool for ensuring the legitimacyof the power. It is known that political participation is influenced by many factorssuch as age, gender, education, profession, income. Among these factors gender whichhas long been discussed has an especial importance. On the basis of gender,traditional society structure and some negative features which is attributed towomen causes differences in political participation behavior. This case and itsreasons have became subject of the a lot of study. The aimof this study examines the relationship between political participation and gender.Political participation is dependent variable and gender is independent variablein this study. In this context, this study was applied between 800 students ofthe Suleyman Demirel University. As a result, a significant and positive relationshipwas found between these variables.Siyasal katılım iktidarınmeşruiyetini sağlamak için önemli bir araçtır. Bilindiği üzere siyasal katılımyaş, cinsiyet, eğitim, meslek, gelir gibi birçok faktör tarafındanetkilenmektedir. Bu faktörlerin içinde özellikle geçmişten bugüne tartışılancinsiyet, özel bir öneme sahiptir. Cinsiyet temelinde, geleneksel toplum yapısıve kadına atfedilen bazı olumsuz özellikler siyasal katılım davranışındafarklılıklara sebep olmaktadır.  Bu durumve nedenleri birçok çalışmanın konusu olmuştur.Çalışmanın amacı cinsiyet vesiyasal katılım arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışmada siyasal katılımbağımlı değişken, cinsiyet bağımsız değişkendir. Bu bağlamda çalışma, SüleymanDemirel Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim görmekte olan 800 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır.Sonuç olarak bu değişkenler arasında anlamlı ve olumlu bir ilişki bulunmuştur.
