X ve Y kuşağınınbirbirlerine karşı algılarının ve bakış açılarının ortaya çıkarılması, buçalışmanın amacını oluşturmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda; bir taraftan X Kuşağı akademisyenlerin,Y Kuşağı öğrenci özellikleri ile ilgili ne tür algılara sahip oldukları incelenirkendiğer taraftan Y Kuşağı öğrencilerin, derslerine giren X Kuşağıakademisyenlerin etkileşim özellikleri hakkında nasıl bir algı ve görüşe sahipoldukları incelenerek bir karşılaştırma yapılmıştır. Bunun için veritoplama aracı olarak; X Kuşağına uygulanan araştırmada, Smith ve Smith(2005)’in “Öğretmenlerin Y Kuşağı Öğrenci Özellikleri Algıları Ölçeği” IspartaSüleyman Demirel Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesinde görevli68 akademisyene uygulanırken Y Kuşağı üzerine yapılan araştırmada ise Wubbelsve Levy (1993)’nin “Öğretmen Etkileşim Ölçeği” aynı fakültedeki 6.766 öğrenciyeuygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; X Kuşağı, Y Kuşağını hem genel özelliklerhem de öğrenme yetkinlikleri bakımından yetersiz görürken iş ve iletişim yetkinlikleriaçısından olumlu ya da olumsuz bir eğilim belirtmemektedirler. Buna karşılık YKuşağı, X Kuşağını etkileşim özellikleri açısından yeterli görmekte, onları biryandan lider, yardımsever (cana yakın), anlayışlı, kararlı, memnun ve uyarıcıolmayan bireyler olarak görürken diğer yandan sert ve özgürlükçü olmayankişiler olarak değerlendirmektedir.Thediscovery of the perceptions and views of X and Y generations against eachother is the purpose of this study. In accordance with this purpose; the X-Beltacademicians and Y-Gen students perceived their perception against each otherand made a comparison. For this aim, as a means of data, “Teacher Perceptionsof Generation Y Student Characteristics Scale” of Smith and Smith (2005) isapplied to 68 academicians working at the Faculty of Economics andAdministrative Sciences, Süleyman Demirel University who represent the Xgeneration. For the study carried out for the generation Y students, the“Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) scale” of Wubbels and Levy (1993) isapplied to 6,766 students who study at the same faculty in the 2014-2015 period.According to the results of the study; while the generation X academicians havea negative perception about the general properties and learning proficiency ofthe generation Y students, they do not indicate a positive or negative tendencyabout the students’ features of work and communication. In contrast, thegeneration Y students’ perception about the generation X academics’ interactionwith themselves is generally positive and while students, on the one hand, seethe generation X academics as leader, helpful/friendly, considerate,determined, content and nonstimulating person, on the other hand they see themas strict and nonliberal person.
