Diarrhea ranks in the first three of deaths due to infections in the world. Rotaviruses are responsible for the majority of acute diarrhea in children. In this study we aim to investigate the positivity and seasonal frequency of the rotaviruses at child patients stool samples that sent to our laboratory for rotavirus detection. 483 pediatric patients fresh stool samples were included the study, between January 2008-December 2010. Rotavirus positivity in stool samples were investigated with Immunochromatographic method (Rota strip, CORIS Bioconcept, Belgium). The analyzed faecal samples of 49 (10.1%) were positive for rotavirus antigen. 46.9% of cases of rotavirus during the winter months, 28.6% were in the spring months. In conclusion, this study, Rota virus is detected one in ten pediatric patients who have diarhea and the seasonal increase during the winter months have been revealed.İshaller dünyada enfeksiyonlara bağlı ölümler arasında ilk üç sırada yer almaktadır. Rotaviruslar çocuklardaki akut ishallerin çoğundan sorumludurlar. Bu çalışmada, laboratuvarımıza çocuk hastalardan rotavirus araştırılması için gönderilen dışkı örneklerinde rotavirus pozitifliğinin tespiti ve dönemsel sıklığının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ocak 2008 – Aralık 2010 yılları arasında incelenen 483 çocuk hastanın taze dışkı örneğini içeren kayıtlar çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Dışkı örneklerinde rotavirus pozitifliği immunokromatografik yöntem (Rota strip, CORIS BioConcept, Belçika) ile araştırılmıştır. Analiz edilen dışkı örneklerinin 49'unda (% 10,1) rotavirus antijeni pozitifliği saptanmıştır. Rotavirus olgularının %46,9'u kış aylarında, %28,6'sı ise ilkbahar aylarında saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada çocuk hastalarındaki ishal vakalarının onda birinde Rota virus tespit edilmiş ve kış aylarında da mevsimsel artış gösterdiği ortaya konmuştur.
