Nowadays the importance of container transport isgradually increasing. For this reason in air, land and sea transportation,lower cost transport has great importance for the companies in national and internationalmarkets. One way to reduce costs is to use the volume of container in the bestway. In this study, genetic algorithm which is one of the heuristic algorithmsis used to solve the container loading problem with lower cost. By means ofgenetic algorithm, boxes of various sizes are placed in the container in themost suitable way but the ability to rotate boxes was not used when placing.Thus, the minimization of the empty space of the container and the maximizationof the number of loaded containers are aimed. The study is compared with otherheuristic algorithms in the literature and the results obtained are presented.Günümüzde konteyner taşımacılığının önemi giderekartmaktadır. Bu sebeple ulusal ve uluslararası piyasalarda hava, kara ve denizyoluyla yapılan taşımacılıklarda şirketler için daha düşük maliyetle taşımabüyük önem taşır. Maliyeti düşürmenin yollarından biri de konteyner hacmini eniyi şekilde kullanmaktır. Bu çalışmada, daha düşük maliyet ile konteyner yüklemeprobleminin çözümü için sezgisel algoritmalardan biri olan genetik algoritma kullanılmıştır.Genetik algoritma ile konteyner içerisine çeşitli boyutlardaki kutular en uygunşekilde yerleştirilmiştir fakat yerleştirme yaparken kutuların döndürülebilmeözellikleri kullanılmamıştır. Böylece, konteyner içi boş alanın minimizasyonuve yüklenen kutu sayısının maksimizasyonu amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma literatürdekidiğer sezgisel algoritmalarla karşılaştırılmış ve elde edilen sonuçlarsunulmuştur.
