Bu çalışma esas olarak, 20. Yüzyıl başlarında Türkiye için henüz varlığı söz konusu olmayan moda tasarımları illüstrasyonları (çizimleri) üzerine bir araştırmadır. Konu dönemin modasına yönelik çıkan moda magazin dergilerinden elde edilen verilerle hazırlanmıştır. İstanbul Kadın Eserleri Kütüphanesinde ulaşılan 1923 tarihli Süs Dergisi'nin bazı sayılarında bulunan tiyatro yazarı Müsahipzade Celal'in moda illüstrasyonları ise dönemin moda algısını ve gelişimini sergilemesi açısından ilginç bir örnek olarak nitelendirilmiş ve ele alınmıştır.Çalışmada; Müsahipzade Celal'in moda illüstrasyonları örneğinde, Türkiye'de dönemin giyim kültüründe ve moda anlayışında illüstrasyonların yeri ve önemine değinilerek bunların yorumlanması ve tanıtılması amaçlanmaktadır. Makalede kütüphane araştırması sırasında elde edilen diğer benzeri bulgular, aynı dönemde Batı basınındaki örneklerle karşılaştırılarak irdelenmektedir. Varılan sonuç; söz konusu dönemde Türkiye'de modaya belirli bir oranda merakın olduğu, bunun yanı sıra modanın henüz bir sektör olarak gelişmemesi nedeniyle illüstrasyon alanının da bir meslek olarak algılanmamış olduğudur. Ancak bu ve benzeri illüstrasyonlar, meraklılarına neyin moda olduğu hususunda ve moda tasarımları hakkında bilgi verebilmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Müsahipzade Celal, Moda Tasarımı, Moda İllüstrasyonu, Süs Dergisi.AbstractThe fundamental focus of this article is on the illustrations (drawings) of fashion design which had not existed at the beginning of the 20th Century Turkey. The study was conducted based on the data obtained from fashion magazines that reflected the style (fashion) of the era. Script writer Müsahipzade Celal's illustrations of fashion which can be seen in various issues of the 'Süs' Magazine dating to 1923 and which are located in Istanbul Women's Library, have been considered and characterized as an interesting example which display the conception and progress of fashion of the era.Based on the example put forth by the fashion illustrations of Müsahipzade Celal the study aims to interpret and introduce the culture of dressing and the understanding of fashion by referring to the position and significance of these illustrations within the concerning realms. Other similar findings attained during studies in libraries were also examined, where I compared them with examples seen in the Western press pertaining to the same era. The conclusion I reached shows that there had been a certain degree of interest in fashion in Turkey during the era in question and as 'fashion' had not yet developed into a sector, the field of illustration had not been perceived exactly as a line of work/occupation. However, these and similar illustrations give information on fashion designs and what the fashion consisted of to those interested.Key Words: Müsahipzade Celal, Fashion Designs, Fashion Illustrations, The 'Süs' Magazine.
