<p>In this study, the effect of regular exercise on 12-14 year-old children’s state and<br />trait anxiety levels was investigated. The research groups were selected 500<br />children from 15 school in Kütahya. 212 sportsmen, 288 non-sportsmen children<br />were participated in our study. In this research, to collect information of the<br />candidates and to determine personal information form and anxiety level, The<br />Anxiety Inventory - STAI, proposed by Spielberger was used. STAI was<br />performed before the pilot examinations throughout the school . After reviewing<br />the obtained data with Shapiro Wilks normality test, it was analyzed by t test and<br />One Way Anova test.<br />Compared to children axiety levels according to gender, both state anxiety and<br />trait axiety were lower in men than in women (p<0,05). An evaluation in<br />accordance with the age of children, while state anxiety level was found<br />significantly diversity, there is no significant difference in trait anxiety. In<br />evaluation of the children according to whether athletes or not, athlete’s both<br />state axiety and trait axiety levels were find out lower (p<0,05).<br />According to the results obtained, there are positive effects of regular exercise<br />and being competitor athletes on anxiety.<br />Key Words: Anxiety; anxiety athlete; exercise; inventory; sport; STAI; State;<br />Trait.</p>
