As a result of industrialization, individuals can both do a lot of work in a short time and devote more time to free time activities. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to determine whether there is a significant difference between the free time management and socio-demographic characteristics of associate students at a public university. “Quantitative research approach” was preferred in this study. “Descriptive research” was selected from quantitative research approaches. In the study, “simple random sampling” was preferred from “probability sampling” techniques. “Survey method” from data collection techniques was used for the research. Some statistical analyses (normality test, independent sample t test and one-way test of variance) were conducted to determine significant differences between free time management (goal setting and evaluating, free time attitudes, technique and scheduling) and socio-demographic characteristics (school, age, gender, class, education status and general grade average) of associate students. As a result of the study, it was determined that the higher the general grade average, the higher the success in free time management.
Sanayileşmeyle birlikte bireyler hem kısa sürede çok iş yapabilmekte hem de kendilerine boş zaman aktivitelerine daha çok zaman ayırabilmektedir. Bu yüzden araştırmanın amacı, bir devlet üniversitesindeki önlisans öğrencilerinin boş zaman yönetimi ile sosyo-demografik özellikleri arasında anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığının belirlenmesidir. Bu çalışmada “nicel araştırma yaklaşımı” tercih edilmiştir. Nicel araştırma yaklaşımlarından “betimsel araştırma” seçilmiştir. Çalışmada “olasılığa dayalı örnekleme” tekniklerinden “basit olasılıklı (rasgele) örnekleme” tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma için veri toplama tekniklerinden “anket tekniği” kullanılmıştır. Önlisans öğrencilerin boş zaman yönetimi (amaç belirleme ve değerleme, boş zaman tutumu, yöntem ve planlama) ile sosyo-demografik özellikleri (okul, yaş, cinsiyet, sınıf, öğrenim durumu ve genel not ortalaması) arasındaki anlamlı farklılıkların belirlenmesi için bazı istatistiki analizler (normallik testi, bağımsız örneklem t testi ve tek yönlü varyans testi) yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, genel not ortalaması yükseldikçe boş zaman yönetimindeki başarı durumunun arttırdığı tespit edilmiştir.
